Scott and Tarryn at Netherwood in Nottingham Road

Wedding at Netherwood_001

I photographed Scott and Tarryn's engagement shoot not so long ago so we were all familiar with each other and new exactly what was wanted on the day.  They made things really easy by all getting ready at the main house at Netherwood so it was a case of running upstairs or downstairs depending on who was ready first.  Everyone seemed pretty chilled and things went quite … [Read more...]

Cameron and Caitlin at Netherwood

Cameron and Caitlin's first dance

I always look forward to photographing at Netherwood as it has such variety and potential for beautiful photographs especially for a wedding.  The hardest part about going to a wedding venue often is fighting the urge to do the same photographs as before as that would be so easy so I made sure that I used some places that I hadn't before.  It was tricky out in the open due to … [Read more...]

It’s Snow Time!

Sunrise at Netherwood

Last  week saw a huge cold front pass over South Africa with I think 6 or 7 provinces experiencing snow falls on the same day which I think was a record.  Kierran and I went up to the Nottingham Road area during the heaviest part of the snow falls and experienced some amazing scenes.  We left around 3:30am in a downpour in Durban and continued all the way up to the Midlands … [Read more...]

Adam and Felicity at Netherwood

Adam and Felicity with the sun setting over the Drakensberg mountain range

Netherwood is one of my favourite venues in the Midlands so I am always excited to go photograph a wedding there.  Adam and his fellow birdwatchers got ready at the cottages at the same time as Felicity was getting ready but I managed to get some pics of them before hand just chilling out with their binoculars in hand.  The main house at Netherwood was quite full with most of … [Read more...]

On holiday at Netherwood

Frosty

Wow what a shock for this family coming from tropical Durban.  We woke up on Friday morning and everything was white with frost which looked quite spectacular as we never get anything near to this in Durban.  We went for an early morning walk and froze our toes off and quickly decided that the fireplace was the best place to be.  We were lucky with the weather as the days … [Read more...]

Netherwood

4

Carolyn invited Wade and myself to come photograph the scenic and beautiful wedding venue of Netherwood after Wade photographed a wedding there recently.  So it was up at 3:30am and off to Nottingham Road to get there before sunrise and we were blessed with a spectacular start to the day.  Wade and I split up to make sure we captured the venue and chapel with the best … [Read more...]

Robert and Sarah at Netherwood

Amazing how the colour of the dress matches some of the colours in the rock face, I was glad that I suggested this arbitry looking place as a backdrop.

Sarah and Robert had very specific ideas and thoughts on how their day was going to pan out so I was quite relieved when the weather played it's part.  Netherwood is an exquisite venue and Carolyn and her staff did a fantastic job (and of course the food was delicious).  Robert and his groomsmen were very relaxed and spent the day chilling while Sarah got woken up at 6:30am … [Read more...]
