The KZN Fashion Council had there AGM at The Coastlands on the Ridge on Wednesday night. I was expecting some outrageous outfits but it was not to be as it was a meeting and not a fashion show. I was impressed how short and to the point all the speeches were especially Andrew Layman, CEO of the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He had some very interesting and real challenges for the fashion industry and it was fascinating to hear the comments from the guests and the challenges that they face each day. It is quite frustrating to hear how very little clothes are made here in KZN as a huge percentage is imported from mostly China and how we could actually compete and create so many jobs for locals. That is a tough industry to be in. Well done to Jasmine Sultan from The KZN Fashion Council for making the evening so enjoyable for everyone.
